Cook outs- Mmmmm

Ahhh, I love summer! One of our favorite things to do is go up to North Fork or South Fork and have a cook out. The following pics are my lengthy tribute to our first one for this year!
We chose to go to South Fork this time. We had dinner, played games, had FHE, played in the river, and made S'mores. Randy bought these GIGANTIC marshmallows (who knows where he found them) but they made GREAT s'mores.

The river this time of year is FREEZING.... But the kids insisted on playing in it. Oakland was Mr. Crazy (as usual) That child has no fear! There was a log a little ways out and he insisted on playing on the log, just like the big kids, and NO, he did not want to hold someones hand!!!
Ivy was a little less brave and did not like going out to the log. Thus the picture without Ivy :)
A random out of order picture of Grandma :)
When Ivy finally ventured out to the log.... She fell in! Oops. It was freezing. I had to strip her of her very wet clothes. Luckily I had thought to bring towels.
Love this picture!!!
Mucky, Yucky, Mud... That the kids so dearly loved :)
Even though the water was FREEZING... Oakland kept fighting us to get in the water.

Dave finally just let him have his way and put him in! Needless to say, Oakland was not thrilled with this.
Still not thrilled with it.....
You would have thought that he had learned his lesson... NO, he still kept trying to get in. After a lot of fun.... And I was sure all my kids had pneumonia.... We packed up and went home. We are all looking forward to our next cookout :)

The smore picture reminds me of a picture my mom has of me and you eating smores, and wearing smores, when we were about that age!

Toddlers crack me up. They want what they want. I would have done the same as Dave - fine, get in and see how you like it! My mom got some enormous marshmallows for s'mores on Father's Day, too! My kids were sooo gooey and messy. But that happens with s'mores, anyways.
