Austin's 10th birthday was on Monday, January 24th. For his birthday he wanted to go to the Salomon Center and "Surf" on the FlowRider. Why Not? I thought that was a much better idea than having a birthday party with 50 screaming 10 year olds running around!
Here we are waiting for the session to begin. (On a side note... It was about 100 degrees inside and my mom would NOT take off her coat!)
They give a quick 2 minute explanation of how to "surf". (Notice Oakland... Poor thing was in for a rude awakening... He had no clue that he was too small to go)
Here is the fun part..... Austin started out body boarding.... (most of the kids started out this way, it was easier than surfing.)
But quickly decided he liked "Flow Riding" the best. He got pretty good at it too.
Hunter was a riot. His facial expressions were so animated the whole time.
Caden was a natural. He picked up quickly how to balance while body boarding really well. He was able to stay out in the water longer than anyone else without tipping over. Sierra also went but unfortunately I am a horrible photographer and all my pictures of her were blurry. :(
Ivy got REEEEAAAAAAL close to body boarding but chickened out each time. Luckily the employees were nice enough to refund us Ivy's entrance fee!
Remember how I said Oakland was going to be upset that he was too small to go.... This picture says it all!
Fortunately he got over it quickly and had a good time!
The evening was a hit (which was rounded out nicely with dinner at Lee's Mongolian BBQ, Austin's Fav!) Happy Birthday Austin!!!! Hope you had a great day!
